If the total value of your first two cards is 9, 10 or 11, you will be dealt one additional card. Another option that exist is called Insurance. If the first card of the dealer is an Ace, they will announce Insurance. In this case, your bet has to be on half of the value of your original bet, in order to insure your hand, in case of the dealer has Blackjack. An insurance bet is paid at odds of 2 to 1 and will only win if the dealer makes Blackjack. If the dealer does not make Blackjack the insurance bet is lost.
